Actually, many years ago, we had a company-wide vote for our informal company-wide mascot, and the choices came down to the Boston tree fern, beef tape worm and a llama. And somehow the llama won the vote!

I know I spoke about Neil Tyson before.. but I think I’m going to make him the official Daily Weird Quotes Mascot.
I never get tired of his speeches or his writings. I find him fascinating and very candid.
The short words are best, and the old words are the best of all.
- Winston Churchill
There are some really awesome words out there that are rarely used. I say we have a revival of these words! It’s time to dust them off and bring them into our day-to-day vocabulary. First off:
Darn Tootin’ - I love guys saying this. I don’t know why. It’s much better if there’s a wink that follows this.
Haberdashery – The definition is someone who sells men’s clothes. However.. I think this word could be replaced for confused or overwhelmed. Example: “This party is a haberdashery!” or “Our conversation is a haberdashery of ideas.”
I might lie a lot but never in my lyrics.
- Courtney Love
Have you ever noticed that nearly every Natalie Merchant or 10,000 Maniacs song, the first few words in the lyrics are the actual song title? It makes “Name That Song Title” kind of easy.
If human beings had genuine courage, they’d wear their costumes every day of the year, not just on Halloween.
- Doug Coupland
So I was gone for a few days. I went to Dragoncon 2009 in Atlanta, GA. It’s THE place for weirdos – outside of Comic Con that is (oh and most Trekker conventions). I had so much fun! I didn’t get to see any famous people like my BFF did, but I felt like a movie star the way people asked to take my picture.
No wonder people dress up, you feel so special! The Official DragonCon gallery isn’t up yet, so check out these Flickr Group Sets.
So here are some pictures from the event (ones I didn’t take because mine weren’t as good as these). If you can make it next year… I highly recommend it!
