Actually, many years ago, we had a company-wide vote for our informal company-wide mascot, and the choices came down to the Boston tree fern, beef tape worm and a llama. And somehow the llama won the vote!

So I was gone for a few days. I went to Dragoncon 2009 in Atlanta, GA. It’s THE place for weirdos – outside of Comic Con that is (oh and most Trekker conventions). I had so much fun! I didn’t get to see any famous people like my BFF did, but I felt like a movie star the way people asked to take my picture.

No wonder people dress up, you feel so special! The Official DragonCon gallery isn’t up yet, so check out these Flickr Group Sets.

I was going to post a link to a website that has a bunch of articles on there about conspiracy theories, overthinking, brainwashing, symbolism, etc.. and while I don’t subscribe to their beliefs I figured.. heey.. I’ll post about them anyways because it’s interesting and kind of weird.

But then I realized, why link to them? If I don’t like them, don’t agree with them, why would I intentionally draw attention to them? I think many of us do the OMGWTF and then tell everyone we know, and then those people are like OMGWTF and then they in turn bring more. Just what some people wanted originally. Attention. I’m not going to do it.

Instead.. I’m going to introduce you to Sara the Walrus. A saxophone playing, tango dancing walrus in Istanbul.

I have a deep affection for all things in the retro era (mainly 40s and 50s) everything from fashion to furniture and culture to cheezy how-to videos they used to show in school. It just feels all so… wholesome. So that’s why I greatly admire Time Warp Wives.
Time Warp living… well, it’s best if they explain it:
“Time Warp Living Is a retro movement where both men and women have taken radical action to escape what they see as the hectic grind of modern life. Past eras had their share of difficulties. Could it be that these timewarpians have overly romanticized the past, or were those times really better than our own? You decide.”

The Dailymail did a feature on Time Warp Wives and it’s worth the read. Some harsh critics say these women are living in denial or that they’re sad because they’re living in a fantasy world. I’m not judging them at all. I think we should all do what makes us happy and kudos to them for living their dream. That’s something to be jealous of.

Now about those ghosts. I’m sure they’re here and I’m not half so alarmed at meeting up with any of them as I am at having to meet the live nuts I have to see every day.

Yes. I’m a fan of Ghost Hunters. Fake, real, whatever.. don’t care. I love it. My favourite person on there is Barry Fitzgerald. He started off as a “family member of TAPS” and has now been promoted to the Tech Manager for Ghost Hunters International.

Why do I like him? He started off in a little “guest spot” and he was soooo nerdy. He had on thick glasses, kind of pudgy, backwards kind of geek. I dig that look (what? I do. I’m not kidding!)

Then.. he gets the Ghost Hunters International gig and suddenly he looks HOT. He’s got that facial hair, goatee thing whatever it’s called, he wears the newsboy caps, the hot Irish thing going… and.. well.. I just think it’s so cute that here he was Mr. Mega-Nerd and now he’s like this Hottie Irish Dude. I wish I could find a Before and After photo.

I recently (as in today) had to give away a ton of free stuff that was basically crafty things and some wedding stuff. So I listed it all on Craiglist because really, where else would I list them?

I explained in detail what I had and told the responders to please tell me the colors they would like. I said I had a TON of stuff. So most responses I got was “I’ll take everything! LOL!” and they probably meant it. I said I don’t want to give everything to one person, do they have something specific in mind. Most responses: “Probably everything! LOL!” Right.
Um. No.

The ones I did reply to (and gave extra bonuses for showing up) got a lot more goodies than what they thought they were getting. So for all you Craiglisters out there.. here’s a little tip. 1) Give a good reply to someone because you never know if someone is nitpicking you 2) SHOW UP! You never know when they might sweeten the pot.

I do enjoy my mother-in-law, she’s a very colorful person and I’m sure if I spoke her language (which isn’t English), I’d be even more amused by her. But as such, all I can do is try and translate her broken English as best I can.

The presents she gives us on her visits are top notch. This year I got Kamasutra chocolate (white and dark!) and also a very large set of shot glasses with a picture of a naked woman on the lap with the devil. Pictures are pending.

Not sure what happened, but yesterday the site was down basically all day. I didn’t have a chance to do my Father’s Day post. So now I have to do it today. Pretend it’s yesterday, you can do that for me, right?
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY – My own father passed away 2000, so this video is a little bittersweet but I do appreciate it. My dad would’ve made an awesome Jerry Lewis, except he never cussed quite as much or carried a gun (my dad, not Lewis)
